The chosen form for this project is one that is generally used for holding rice in Chinese culture. With its elegant contour line, it is very suitable to be held with only one hand and therefore fits very well in the palm providing a comfortable grasp.
Coloured porcelain liquid mixing
Instead of colouring by glaze, the graphic on its surface was created with coloured porcelain. Before moulding, white liquid porcelain was coloured by pigment. After pouring the first type of porcelain into the mould, the coloured porcelain was then poured in. By moving the plaster mould in certain ways, different patterns and gradi- ents were created. In effect, the graphic had more layers. With glaze, such patterns are usually hard to make.
